Odds and preview of Premier League clash

Manchester City host Everton this lunchtime looking to return to winning ways following the loss at Chelsea.

The Merseysiders have enjoyed recent success over City at Goodison Park and have steadily improved under boss Marco Silva.

Pep Guardiola’s men are a point behind leaders Liverpool and could shuffle the pack for this one.

But will they come unstuck against the Toffees again?

Head-to-Head

The last six meetings in all competitions have been pretty even. City have had two 3-1 victories in that time but Everton did thrash the Citizens 4-0 in January 2017.

Romelu Lukaku scored the opener, with Ademola Lookman notching his first goal for the Toffees moments after coming on as a substitute.

City’s Raheem Sterling bagged a late equaliser in a 1-1 draw in this fixture last season.

Likely XIs

Man City vs Away team - Football tactics and formations
John Stones looks likely to be sidelined after being forced off with a knee injury against Hoffenheim.

This could see Vincent Kompany come into a back-three alongside Nicolas Otamendi and Aymeric Laporte.

Guardiola will have to decide whether to stick with Phil Foden in midfield or bring Fernandinho back into the fold.

Kevin De Bruyne could make a surprise comeback this afternoon. Sergio Aguero might also make his return to the starting eleven in place of Gabriel Jesus.

Silva only has the long-term absence of James McCarthy to contend with.

Lookman could come in for Theo Walcott, who hasn’t scored in the league since August.

Key Battles

Everton striker Richarlison has been a real problem for opposition defences this season and will have to be kept quiet.

Andre Gomes has looked a real coup on a season’s loan from Barcelona for the Toffees.

If he can dictate the play with the lively Bernard then City could struggle to dominate possession as they usually do.

Aguero’s return usually means goals will follow. Silva will have to decide whether to match up and play a back-three of Yerry Mina, Kurt Zouma and Michael Keane.

Match Odds

Man City are 2/9 to get the victory that would put them back on top of the Premier League.

Everton to win for the second time in seven games is 12/1. A fourth draw since 2016 is 11/2.

Should Aguero start then he’s 11/4 to notch first.

Leroy Sane to bag his third goal in two games is 23/20 anytime.

The match to feature Over 3.5 goals comes in at 20/23.
