Odds and preview for Premier League clash

Liverpool have the chance to extend their lead at the top of the table at home to Arsenal this evening.

But a patched-up Gunners side will be looking to get back on track after a recent blip.

There tends to be goals when these two meet. And with so much at stake, this should be a must-watch. Tune in to BT Sport from 5:30pm to watch it live. In the meantime, keep reading for all the key odds.

Head-to-Head

The last 10 games between these sides have produced three wins for Liverpool, two for Arsenal and five draws.

But the North Londoners haven’t had much joy against tonight’s hosts in recent years. They haven’t won any of the last seven meetings between the two sides.

The visitors famously won the league at Anfield in 1989, but they haven’t kept a clean sheet at Liverpool for over 20 years. They’ve conceded 17 goals in their last five visits combined.

Likely XIs

Liverpool v Arsenal teams

Jurgen Klopp isn’t likely to make too many changes to a winning side. His one big call is in midfield.

He played Georginio Wijnaldum and Jordan Henderson as a pair in the 4-0 win over Newcastle United. But if he wants to bring in another body there, Xherdan Shaqiri is likely to drop out in favour of Fabinho.

Arsenal boss Unai Emery doesn’t have too many options to switch things up. That means he’s likely to persist with the narrow 4-3-1-2 system that’s been deployed of late, although Aaron Ramsey’s industry may see him start ahead of Mesut Ozil.

Key Battles

Arsenal are without both of their first-choice full-backs. And that could be a recipe for disaster when up against Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane. Stephan Lichtsteiner could be targeted on the right after a very poor showing against Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Gunners defence will need to be wary of tracking Roberto Firmino when he drops deep. They could leave space in behind for Salah and Mane to exploit.

Emery will look to pack the midfield to stop Liverpool getting the ball into their danger men in the first place.

That means Aaron Ramsey will have to work hard to provide service to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.

Match Odds

Liverpool are clear 4/9 favourites to extend their winning run to eight games in all competitions.

We’ve got Arsenal back at 5/1, while there’s 7/2 about the draw.

Five of the last six games between these two have produced Over 3.5 Goals. We go 5/4 that it happens again.

The odds suggest the away side are up against it, but you can’t count them out with their strike duo. Current top scorer Aubameyang is 19/10 to score, with Lacazette close behind at 2/1.

For the Reds, Salah is 3/1 to open the scoring or odds-on to net anytime at 4/5. Firmino is 11/8 to bag at home to Arsenal for the third season running.
