Everything you need to know about the Featherweight world title fight

Josh Warrington will make the first defence of his IBF World Featherweight title this Saturday against Carl Frampton in one of the biggest domestic bouts of the year.

The Leeds Warrior heads into the fight with an unbeaten record. The Jackal is looking to end that sequence and claim a fourth world title for his own.

Who will come out on top when the bell rings on Saturday night? We’ve got all you need to know ahead of the big fight.

When is the fight? Where is the fight? What time is the fight?

Warrington and Frampton will step into the ring on Saturday 22nd December 2018. Their bout is expected to begin just after 10:00pm. A packed undercard includes Billy Joe Saunders v Zoltan Sera and Michael Conlan v Jason Cunningham.

All the action will take place at the 21,000 capacity Manchester Arena.

Where can I watch the fight?

You can watch the big fight and the undercard exclusively live on BT Sport Box Office from 6pm. The event costs £19.95 to order and is available on BT TV, Sky and Virgin platforms.

How does the form stack up?

There’s not a great deal separating the two fighters, although it’s Warrington who heads into the bout unbeaten. The Leeds Warrior is 27-0 after claiming a split decision victory over Lee Selby at his beloved Elland Road in May.

A total of 21 of those victories have come via decision, with six successes by way of knockout. That gives him a knockout percentage of 22% compared against 56% for Frampton. However, the Jackal does have a blot on his copybook. The Ulsterman lost by a majority decision in his rematch with Leo Santa Cruz in January 2017.

Since then the Northern Irishman has beaten Horacio Garcia, Nonito Donaire and Luke Jackson in his native country to take his record to 26-1.

What are the odds ahead of the fight?

Frampton typically looks to fight on the front foot and will bring a fierce, fast-paced style to Saturday’s clash. He’ll go off as the 4/9 favourite, while it’s 11/10 he wins by Decision or Technical Decision and 11/4 he takes it by KO, TKO or Disqualification.

Warrington is more workmanlike and offers a decent jab which could prove effective thanks to a 5in reach advantage. His opponent is an elite level fighter, though, and is the more likely winner in what could turn into a war of attrition.

Nevertheless, the Leeds Warrior is a 7/4 chance to win the fight outright or 14/5 by Decision or Technical Decision. His record of six knockout wins in 27 fights makes victory by KO, TKO or Disqualification unlikely at 7/1.
