Tottenham v PSV betting tips: Can Spurs keep their European hopes alive?

Odds and preview for crucial Champions League tie

Tottenham Hotspur take on in-form PSV Eindhoven tonight in a must-win Champions League game.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have only picked up one point from three European games this term. They need to win here or they’ll face a real battle to reach the knockout stages. If they lose or draw and Inter Milan beat Barcelona, their hopes will end tonight.

The BT Sport 2 cameras will be there to capture the action from 8:00pm. And we’ve got all the key info ahead of the action right here…

These two sides drew 2-2 last month. Luuk de Jong’s late equaliser at the Philips Stadion could haunt the North Londoners.

That was only the third meeting between these two. But PSV have knocked Spurs out of Europe before.

They faced each other in the UEFA Cup in 2007-08. The score finished 1-1 on aggregate after two legs, with PSV winning the shoot-out to book their place in the quarter-finals.

Likely XIs

Tottenham v PSV teams

Pochettino will be concerned that he won’t have his full-strength side for such a huge game.

With Hugo Lloris suspended, Paulo Gazzaniga looks likely to start in goal ahead of Michel Vorm. A lack of midfield options also means Moussa Sissoko is set to feature in central midfield alongside Harry Winks.

Dele Alli may not be ready to return to the starting XI just yet, but Erik Lamela should retain his spot out wide after scoring one and setting up another at the weekend.

PSV almost have a clean bill of health, which means Steven Bergwijn should start on the left wing. He missed out last time.

Key Battles

Winks could have his work cut out in central midfield. Sissoko has rarely convinced for Spurs. If ever there was a time for the Frenchman to deliver a big performance, this is it. If he doesn’t show up, PSV could control central areas.

Ben Davies will need to put in a good shift too. Hirving Lozano is PSV’s main danger man when cutting in from the right. He’s got eight league goals already this season.

Spurs do have the quality to get the result they need though. Christian Eriksen’s return should help Harry Kane to get back to his best too.

Match Odds

Spurs are 2/5 to get the win they need. But late goals have cost them against Inter and PSV in Europe this term. It’s 1/2 that they’re leading after 75 minutes, while Spurs to win and both teams to score is 7/4.

PSV should be full of confidence after racking up 11 wins from 11 games in league action so far. The visitors are 7/1 outsiders to take all three points and boost their own hopes of qualification.

We go 4/1 that the spoils are shared.

Kane leads the goalscoring markets at 9/4 to score first and 1/2 anytime, while Lozano is 12/5 to net for PSV.
