Odds and preview ahead of London derby

There’s far more than just local pride at stake as Tottenham Hotspur face Chelsea at Wembley. The Blues sit a single point above Mauricio Pochettino’s side, with both sides in strong form.

Recent clashes have tended to produce plenty of goals, and Maurizio Sarri’s men are currently the division’s second-highest scorers with 27.

The action starts at 5:30pm on BT Sports 1. And ahead of kick-off, we’ve got all the odds and info…

Head-to-Head

It’s Chelsea who have historically had the better of this fixture. They’ve chalked up 68 wins to Tottenham’s 52. One streak from 1990 to 2002 saw the Blues go 26 straight games without defeat.

The last four clashes have seen two wins apiece, with Spurs chalking up a 3-1 victory at Stamford Bridge in April 2018. Interestingly, a player has bagged a brace in all four of those games – most recently Dele Alli in that Tottenham away win.

Likely XIs

Spurs tend to go 4-2-3-1 at home. It’s likely to be an attacking midfield pairing of Lucas Moura and Christian Eriksen, behind Harry Kane.

Still injury plagued at the back, the continued absence of Jan Vertonghen and Danny Rose mean Ben Davies and Juan Foyth are likely to keep their place in defence.

Chelsea are firmly a 4-3-3 outfit under Sarri. That front trio seems set to be Eden Hazard, Alvaro Morata and Pedro. Defensively, David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger are an easy call as the centre-back pairing.

Key Battles

The Blues will aim to target Foyth, whose inconsistency means he’s a potential weak link. He’s also fairly inexperienced, so the in-form Morata could cause him plenty of problems with his movement and finishing.

A recent injury means Dele Alli might not quite be at his best here, but he’s tormented the Chelsea defence in recent meetings. The former MK Dons prodigy has netted five times in as many meetings with the West London club.

Match Odds

Tottenham have won just two of their last five games at Wembley. And the odds have Chelsea as 6/4 favourites for victory. Meanwhile, it’s 17/10 for a Spurs win, and 12/5 about the Draw.

Five of the last six meetings have seen both sides net, and it’s 4/7 for Both Teams to Score once again. Meanwhile, Over 3.5 Goals is 7/4.

Kane leads the Anytime Goalscorer market at 11/10. Meanwhile, Chelsea’s most likely goal-getters are Hazard at 8/5 and Morata at 17/10.

As regards long shots, there could be interest in Alli. He’s bagged a brace in two of the last four head-to-heads and is a hefty 28/1 to Score Two or More Goals.
