Tips and odds for this weekend’s Italian fixtures

Serie A rolls back into life this weekend following the final international break of the year.

Juventus lead Napoli by six points, with Inter Milan are further three behind.

But the top three all have winnable games this weekend, so little should change at the top.

So instead, our focus moves elsewhere. Starting with a ripper of a clash down in Rome…

Lazio v AC Milan

It’s fourth versus fifth at the Stadio Olimpico as AC Milan visit Lazio.

Simone Inzaghi’s men have been impressive this season, but haven’t quite had enough in the big games, losing to Juventus, Inter Milan, Roma and Napoli this season.

Gennaro Gattuo’s AC have performed remarkably similarly this term. They’ve also lost to Juve, Napoli and Inter.

So this should be a finely-balanced encounter between two seeks eyeing up a Champions League spot.

On home turf, our traders reckon Lazio have the edge at 5/6, with I Rossoneri the 16/5 outsiders.

Ciro Immobile has already fired in eight goals in Serie A this season. Lazio’s main man is 23/10 favourite to score first and 4/6 anytime.

Genoa v Sampdoria

It’s the Derby della Lanterna at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris on Sunday night, as Genoa and Sampdoria meet for the 97th time.

It might not be the biggest derby in Italian football, but this should be a competitive affair with just one point between the sides.

Neither side are in great form, but Samp have dominated this fixture in recent times, winning six of the last 10 encounters.

That hasn’t stopped Genoa from being made 31/20 favourites however. Sampdoria are 7/4 with a draw 9/4.

Who might be the derby hero? Genoa’s rumoured Chelsea target Krzysztof PIatek is 11/4 favourite to score first, with Fabio Quagliarella 11/2 for Samp.

Best of the rest

Each of the top three have what should be relatively straightforward home matches this weekend.

Juventus take on a SPAL side who have wilted a touch since their bright start to the season. The Old Lady are 2/13 to collect three points. Cristiano Ronaldo is 23/10 to score first and 9/5 to grab two or more.

Second place Napoli will look to maintain pace when they host bottom side Chievo. Carlo Ancelotti’s men are comfortable 1/10 favourites.  Dries Mertens is 14/5 to score first.

And there should be a home win for Inter too, who are 1/4 to beat Frosinone at the San Siro. Mauro Icardi is 9/4 to bag two or more.
