Latest betting for the Cox Plate

A shift in the betting has seen wonder-mare Winx eased to 2/7 from 1/4 to win a fourth Cox Plate at Moonee Valley on Saturday.

Chris Waller’s seven-year-old has been drawn in stall six as she bids to continue her incredible run and rack up a 29th consecutive win since May 2015. Her task is made much tougher this time around by the inclusion of several European-trained contenders.

Godolphin will do battle with the well-backed Benbatl, who our traders have at 11/2 following his win in a Grade 1 contest at Caulfield a fortnight ago. Aidan O’Brien goes with Rostropovich, who is priced at 16/1 alongside Humidor for Darren Weir.

David Stevens said, “While Winx remains a red-hot favourite for another Cox Plate success, she’s not one we’re running away from.”

“Benbatl has been  far more popular with British punters, who clearly believe the Godolphin runner can break Australian hearts and prevent the mare making it 29 wins in a row this weekend,” he continued.

**Cox Plate
2/7 Winx, 11/2 Benbatl, 16/1 Rostropovich, Humidor, 20/1 Avilius, 33/1 D’argento, Kings Will.
