Gialloblu making a colourful start to Serie A

The Serie A table is already taking a familiar shape. Juventus top, Napoli second. Followed by a tussle for fourth between Inter Milan, Lazio and Roma.

However if you look a little further down, Parma are sitting pretty in ninth place – above traditional powerhouse AC Milan.

After three-successive promotions, they’ve began the season like they’re here to stay.

The Coral News Team take a look at what’s changed in the north-east of Italy.

Brought in players with a point to prove

Parma are finally back in the top-flight. They’ve stuck to their guns and worked within their means bringing in players who are looking to re-assert themselves in one of Europe’s elite leagues.

Roberto Inglese was signed from Napoli on loan with an option to buy. This was a snare for a player who has reached double figures in the last two seasons.

Jonathan Biabiany has rejoined the club for his third spell and is still only 30-years-old.

It’s been former Arsenal and Roma man Gervinho who’s been the stand-out player though.

The Ivorian netted against Juventus and scored solo goals in wins over Empoli and Cagliari in the last two games.

Playing with no fear

They’ve only lost to Juventus and surprise package SPAL, who have started the season on fire.

Inter Milan at the San Siro on match day three really got heads turning though.

They kept the likes of Ivan Perisic and Mauro Icardi quiet and won it with a spectacular 25-yard strike from full-back Federico Di Marco.

They’ve carried this on and had Gervinho to thank for victories in their last two games that leaves them in the top half of the table.

Can they sustain their run?

The players will be in buoyant mood when they return to league action in two weeks.

However, they face two tough tests back-to-back as they host Lazio at the Stadio Ennio Tardini followed by a tough trip to Atalanta seven days later.

The form of Ciro Immobile could turn the tide Lazio’s way. But only Napoli and SPAL have stopped Parma scoring in the league this season.

A similar performance to the win over Inter could see the Crociati continue their solid return to Serie A.
