Odds and key storylines on the weekend’s Gridiron

Week Five of the NFL season produced plenty of drama, including two 33-31 scorelines, and a first victory for Cleveland Browns over Baltimore Ravens in six attempts.

Ahead of another crucial week of action, the Coral News Team examine the key clashes and deliver the odds – beginning with a grudge-match at MetLife Stadium…

Giants game gives Eagles ideal chance to recover

The glow has very much worn off for last season’s Super Bowl winners Philadelphia Eagles. They’ve lost their last two games, and sit third in the NFC East with a 2-3 record.

However, that record does them a bit of a disservice. Each of those losses have come by a margin of six points or less, including an unlucky Overtime defeat in Tennessee.

But they have what appears to be the perfect fixture to recover, at the bottom NFC East side – New York Giants.

Not only have Pat Shurmur’s men lost eight of their last 10 home games, they’ve also been beaten in 16 of the last 20 head-to-heads with the Eagles.

Philadelphia are 8/13 in the Money Line, while Coral’s odds make the more ambitious PHI Eagles -5.0 handicap an 11/8 shot.

Can Chiefs maintain the AFC’s only perfect record?

Kansas City Chiefs have been steamrollering sides in NFL 2018. The only side with a 100% win percentage after five games, the Chiefs have won three of those matches by a margin of 10+ points.

However, a trip to Gillette Stadium to face New England Patriots is by far their biggest test yet. The Pats have been patchy on the road, but have won eight in a row in Foxborough.

But the Chiefs do know how to win in New England, having pulled off a 42-27 victory here on Week One last season. It’s 8/5 for Kansas in the Money Line, while they’re 17/4 to Score Over 37 points here once again.

Will Hopkins prove too hot for Bills to handle?

Nobody can match Houston Texans’ Wide Receiver DeAndre Hopkins right now. The 26-year-old set Twitter alight with his ridiculous double-spin against the Dallas Cowboys at the weekend – but it’s consistency which is key to his importance.

He’s top of the tree in Receiving Yards this season, with 594 from five games – averaging over 15 yards per catch. And he could cause nightmares for Buffalo Bills this weekend.

Probably the most unpredictable side in the NFL, the 2-3 Bills have veered from a comfortable win at Minnesota Vikings to a 22-0 mauling by Green Bay Packers. But chances are they’ll struggle to contend with Hopkins and co. in Houston.
