Preview, odds and tips for friendly fixture

Wales host Spain for the first time in thirty five years tonight – but have to do so without their star man.

Gareth Bale has been ruled out of the clash with a groin injury. Spain come into the game in a buoyant mood after dispatching both England and Croatia in their Nations League group last month.

Can Luis Enrique pick up his third-straight win in charge of La Roja, live on Sky Sports Football at 7:45pm? The Coral News Team have previewed the clash with a Big Match Breakdown.

Head-to-Head

The last fixture between the pair came in 1985. Two Ian Rush goals and a Mark Hughes strike took Wales to a 3-0 win.

However, Spain edge the fixture two victories to one, with another two draws sandwiched in between.

Wales vs Spain - Football tactics and formations

With Bale out, the Coral experts looked into how Wales could set up without their talisman.

David Brooks, Tom Lawrence and Sam Vokes could provide the attacking thrust for Wales.

Ethan Ampadu could start in the middle of the park.

Alvaro Morata may play for the visitors, as well as Chelsea team-mates Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso.

Suso could be the chief creator in Spain’s midfield.

Key Battles

Ben Woodburn may not be in the starting eleven for Sheffield United right now, but he’ll be trying to get the better of Marcos Alonso.

A midfield-duo of Joe Allen and Ampadu will be up against Saul Niguez and Koke. Whoever gets the upper hand in the middle will go a long way to deciding the result of the match.

Paco Alcacer should cause problems for the Welsh back-line. Enrique has to decide if Morata or Rodrigo will play as the focal point up front.

Match odds

Spain are 2/5 favourites to grab the victory. Wales are 8/1 for the home win. A third draw between the two sides is 7/2.

Spain, will be lifted by Bale’s absence. La Furia to win to nil is 6/5.

Aaron Ramsey will have to take on the mantle of ‘main man’. The Arsenal star is 9/2 to score Anytime.

Vokes is back in the mix and is 14/5 to bag anytime.

This could be a high scoring affair with the game to feature Over 2.5 goals at 20/23.
