Odds and preview ahead of huge Prem clash

There’s a belter of a game to kick-start your Saturday afternoon today. Chelsea versus Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.

The pair resume a Premier League rivalry that has really heated up in the last fifteen years.

Can Chelsea grab the win they need to go outright top of the league? Or will United drag themselves from a poor start into top-four contention?

So before you tune into the game from 12:30pm on Sky Sports Premier League or Sky Sports Main Event, we’ve got a Big Match Breakdown to preview the heavyweight clash.

Head-to-Head

These two have had a competitive rivalry for years, but this has turned into something increasingly bitter since Roman Abramovich took over Chelsea in 2003.

The Blues have won the last eight meetings at the Bridge in all competitions dating back to October 2012.

But a goal apiece from Romelu Lukaku and Jesse Lingard for Man United did beat Antonio Conte’s Chelsea at Old Trafford last season.

Likely XIs

Chelsea vs Man United - Football tactics and formations
Jorginho will again be key to Chelsea’s fortunes. The holding midfielder has had an instant impact in West London and is an influential reason for their impressive start.

He should be paired once again with Ross Barkley and N’Golo Kante in the engine room.

Antonio Rudiger missed international duty with a groin injury and looks certain to be out of this one too. Gary Cahill or Andreas Christensen could replace the German defender.

As for United, Jose Mourinho will yet again be without the crocked Jesse Lingard. Both Marouane Fellaini and Nemanja Matic face a race to return from injury to start.

Juan Mata could play in front of Alexis Sanchez, who’s suffering from fatigue after playing 90 minutes for Chile against Mexico on Wednesday.

Key Battles

Chelsea’s Olivier Giroud could get the nod up front instead of Alvaro Morata.

The Frenchman has formed a productive partnership with Eden Hazard this season and is great playing with his back to goal.

It seems Mourinho doesn’t know who the best man to play alongside Chris Smalling in defence. This could well see Willian and Hazard run riot.

Man United’s Juan Mata will be eager to impress against his former side.

However, it’ll be whether we are talking about Paul Pogba or Jorginho at full-time that could decide the outcome.

Match Odds

Chelsea are 7/5 to keep up their winning run in this fixture.

Man United are 15/4 to make it two wins in a row over the Blues for the first time since 2011.

The draw is 11/4.

Hazard is arguably playing the best football of anyone in the league this season. The Belgian forward is 13/10 to score Anytime.

Willian scored the last time the two teams met and is 21/10 to score again.

Lukaku will be a big threat to an unfamiliar Chelsea back-line. He’s 12/1 to bag two or more.

Sanchez could start on the bench, but is 10/1 to be the last goalscorer.
