Odds and preview ahead of quarter-finals

The US open is warming up in more ways than one. John Millman and Rafael Nadal both commented on the humidity on court in their recent wins.

We see the second flurry of quarter-finals take place today with Marin Cilic, Novak Djokovic and Madison Keys all in action.

The Coral News Team serve up some tips for today’s action…

Naomi Osaka to beat Lesya Tsurenko in straight sets – Evens

The pair have never met before but Osaka is the favourite coming into this one.

The 20-year-old has impressed with her energy and relentless defence.

She comes up against Tsurenko nine years her senior. She beat Caroline Wozniacki in the earlier rounds before struggling to a win over Marketa Vondrousouva.

If Osaka maintains her consistent form, she could be good for a first Grand Slam semi-final of her blossoming career.

Marin Cilic to beat Kei Nishikori in four sets – 3/1

Cilic will have taken a lot of confidence from his straight-sets win over David Goffin in the last round.

Kei Nishikori will represent a different sort of challenge and beat Cilic at the Monte Carlo Masters earlier this year.

However, the Croatian has won in both of the most recent meetings on the hard courts with his aggressive forehand a big threat.

Madison Keys to beat Carla Suarez Navarro in three sets – 11/4

Keys holds a 3-0 record over her Spanish counterpart with all three matches going the distance.

This one could be no different, what with Navarro’s Grand Slam quarter final bagel record.

She surprised some by eliminating Maria Sharapova in the last round, her style isn’t usually akin to beating big hitters.

This will give Navarro confidence, but unlocking Keys’ defence may be one step too far.

Novak Djokovic to beat John Millman and Over 0.5 Total Tiebreaks – 13/8

John Millman will be riding a crest of a wave after defeating Roger Federer in last-sixteen.

However, he now comes up against the current Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic.

The 11/10 favourite for the US Open title is in fine fettle and looks to have got over his elbow injury.

Millman is 9/1 to win the match and after his heroics could never be fully discounted.

However, this should be where his tournament comes to an end.
