Serie A Preview: Can Napoli keep up the heat on Juventus?
Tips and odds for Italian weekend action
It was a fruitless international break for the Italian National Team, so the return of Serie promises to be a welcome relief for Gli Azzurri fans.
Napoli host Fiorentina in the game of the weekend. Meanwhile, the top two meet at the Allianz Stadium, as Juventus take on Sassuolo. The Coral News Team has taken an in-depth look at those matches, as well as providing an overview of the rest of the Italian top-flight action.
Napoli v Fiorentina
Carlo Ancelotti enjoyed a perfect start to life as Napoli manager – until Sampdoria rocked up and inflicted a 3-0 defeat on Partenopei last time out. The Italian boss faces another tough assignment this weekend. Fiorentina have started the season with two wins from two and won 3-0 when the sides met towards the end of the previous campaign.
This one should be much tighter, especially with the respective firepower of either team. Marco Benassi has three goals in two games for the visitors. Midfielder Piotr Zielinski has two in three for the hosts.
Napoli have won 10 of their last 12 home matches. They’re 8/13 to collect another three point haul on Saturday. Alternatively, a fourth draw in six meetings between the sides is 3/1. You can back 1-1 stalemate at 7/1.
Juventus v Sassuolo
Plenty would have predicted Juventus topping the table after three matches. But not many would have had Sassuolo hanging onto their coattails following the international break.
The Serie A minnows are second in the table after recording home victories against Inter Milan and Genoa, alongside a battling away draw with Cagliari. This is a much tougher assignment, though. Juve have lost just three home matches since January 2013. They inflicted a 7-0 home defeat on Sunday’s opponents just seven months ago.
La Vecchia Signora are 2/9 to pick up all three points.
Best of the rest
Inter picked up their first win before the international break. They’re 2/7 to make it two from two against a Parma side still searching for their first success since promotion from Serie B. Sampdoria conclude Saturday’s action away at Frosinone and are 11/10 to taste victory.
The other Milan side take on Cagliari in the feature contest on Sunday evening. They’re 3/4 to pick up their second win of the season, with Gonzalo Higuain taken to Score Anytime. Lazio are available at the same-price to inflict a second defeat in three matches on newly-promoted Empoli.
