European Transfer Window: Five moves you may have missed
Real Madrid, Dortmund, Bayern, and PSG feature
England’s transfer window may have closed a few weeks ago, but European football’s deadline only came and went on Friday evening.
And there were plenty of exciting deals going through right up until business closed for another few months.
The Coral News Team bring you five big moves from the continent you may have missed.
Mariano Diaz – Lyon to Real Madrid
Real Madrid made the slightly surprising move of re-signing former youth star Mariano Diaz from Lyon for €30m.
The 25-year-old had only moved to the Ligue 1 outfit from the Santiago Bernabeu last summer. But 18 goals in 37 games for Les Gones has convinced the Champions League holders to bring the Catalan ace back to the club.
And in an even more shocking move, the club have handed him the number seven shirt. After Raul and Cristiano Ronaldo, he’s got big boots to fill.
Quincy Promes – Spartak Moscow to Sevilla
Quincy Promes has been the best player in the Russian Premier League for a number of seasons now. The flying Dutchman has managed 59 goals in just 115 appearances for Spartak.
At 26-years-old, it was about time he got a move to one of Europe’s major leagues. And it’s Sevilla who have stumped up the cash to take him to La Liga.
The Seville outfit have paid £15m to take Promes to the club.
Juan Bernat – Bayern Munich to Paris Saint-Germain
Spain international Juan Bernat is far too good to be propping up a bench – even at one of the biggest clubs in the world.
The 25-year-old made just 11 appearances for Bayern last season. But PSG need options in the full-back areas and Bernat is as good as it gets when it comes to rotational defenders.
The Ligue 1 champions have stumped up £12.5 for the former Valencia star – an absolute bargain.
Kevin Strootman – Roma to Marseille
In one of the most surprising moves of the window, Roma have allowed Kevin Strootman to move on. The Dutch international has signed for Marseille, teaming back up with former Roma coach Rudi Garcia at the Stade Velodrome.
At 28-years-old, Strootman is only approaching his prime and made 32 appearances for the Giallorossi last season.
Injuries took a large chunk of Strootman’s career. But if he can find his feet in France, he’ll be a top signing – even at the reported €25m fee.
Paco Alcacer – Barcelona to Borussia Dortmund
Things haven’t gone smoothly for Paco Alcacer since his breakout season for Valencia a few seasons back.
The 25-year-old didn’t get too many chances after his move to Barcelona. Alcacer only managed 10 goals in 37 games over two seasons for the La Liga giants.
And the Spain international will be hoping a loan move to BVB will kick-start his career. Should Alcacer hit double figures, it could persuade Dortmund to pay the €30m fee to make the move permanent.
