Who’s the favourite for the Premier League Golden Boot?
Who can topple Mo Salah?
The Premier League roars back into action with Manchester United facing Leicester City tonight.
New players will bring bigger expectations but it may be a man who has been at the top of the scoring charts for a number of seasons now who creates the biggest impact.
Romelu Lukaku plundered 16 Premier League goals last season but will he be able to usurp Mohamed Salah as the league’s chief goal-getter?
The Coral News Team take a look at who could be at the top of the scoring charts in 2018/19…
Mohamed Salah
The Egyptian notched 32 goals in 36 games for Liverpool last season. This featured only one penalty with a goal per game ratio of 0.69.
After getting injured in the Champions League final, he will be champing at the bit to prove he isn’t just a one-season wonder.
Salah scored some massive goals on the way to becoming the Premier League’s top marksman and is 5/1 to get his hands on the Golden Boot again.
Harry Kane
Harry Kane has been one of the most feared striker’s in world football for at least three years now.
The Tottenham front-man has scored over 30 goals in each of his last four seasons culminating in winning the World Cup golden boot this summer.
The 25-year-old should bag around a similar mark again this campaign, and is 11/4 to reclaim his title.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
The Gabon international fit effortlessly into the Arsenal team when he arrived in January. The 29-year-old scored 10 goals in 13 league appearances and showed a glimpse of what could be to come.
Aubameyang won the Bundesliga’s Golden Boot in 2016-17 with 31 goals. He followed this up with 16 strikes in the first half of last season before arriving at the Emirates Stadium.
The former Borussia Dortmund forward is 6/1 to add another individual trophy to his cabinet and win the Premier League golden boot.
Romelu Lukaku
Romelu Lukaku will be hoping to surpass the 20 goal mark this season as Jose Mourinho’s number-nine for a second season.
He did bag 25 goals for Everton in 2016/17 and will need a similar amount this year.
The Belgian forward is 6/1 to finish top of the goal-scoring charts.
Sergio Aguero
Where we may have some young pretenders in the list it’s Sergio Aguero that has seen it all before.
He bagged 26 goals on his way to the 2014-15 Golden Boot and has followed that up with three-consecutive 20 plus goal-scoring seasons.
Aguero may not get as much game-time as in previous years with the lively Gabriel Jesus around.
But at 6/1 could come good as the Argentine will always remain a genuine goal threat.
