Which Premier League stars are still at risk from Europe’s top clubs?

Transfer window still open abroad

The Premier League transfer window closed last week. But Europe’s top clubs still have until the end of August to complete their summer business. That could include snaring the best players from the English top-flight’s biggest clubs.

With that in mind, the Coral News Team has taken a look at who’s most likely to make a switch to the continent.

Paul Pogba

Rumours continue to abound over the future of Manchester United star Paul Pogba. His manager Jose Mourinho has been less than effusive in his praise for the midfielder since he returned from the World Cup. And the Frenchman fired back in turn with some very interesting comments of his own last week.

Barcelona are known to be on the prowl for the World Cup winner. Even if a deal doesn’t happen this summer, the groundwork is seemingly being laid for a January swoop.

Matteo Darmian

Italian ace Matteo Darmian has been linked with a move away for Old Trafford for some time. The 28-year-old joined the Red Devils from Torino in 2015 but has made just 56 league appearances during his time in England.

He did play the full-90 minutes in United’s opening day victory over Leicester City. But with opportunities likely to be limited throughout the season, a switch back to Serie A with Juventus, Inter Milan or Napoli may appeal.

Danny Rose

Once the bright young thing of Tottenham Hotspur’s defence, Danny Rose has become the forgotten man in North London. The left-back played just 17 matches for Spurs last season and is seemingly down the pecking order under Mauricio Pochettino.

A move abroad could be what’s required to reinvigorate his career, with Paris Saint-Germain ahead of Schalke 04 in the race to sign the full-back.

Mohamed Elneny

Egypt international Mohamed Elneny only signed for Arsenal in January 2016. But already his time in North London could be coming to an end. The midfielder has fallen behind new signings Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi despite only recently agreeing a new four-year contract.

The arrival of Unai Emery looks to have come at exactly the wrong time for the 26-year-old, who has been linked with a move to Marseille in recent days.

Anthony Martial

Mourinho’s relationship with Anthony Martial appeared to reach breaking point over the summer. The French star left United’s pre-season training camp to attend the birth of his baby son but was soon under fire from his manager for not returning to the United States.

That could be the tipping point for the player, who has made just 65 league starts since moving to Old Trafford in 2015. A move to Serie A appears his most likely option, with AC Milan the current frontrunners.
