Odds and preview for some of today’s key games

The second round of the Men’s and Women’s draws continue at Flushing Meadows as the 2018 US Open trundles on.

A couple of big hitters are involved. And the Coral News Team pick out some of the best bets of the day.

Benoit Paire v Roger Federer, Set Betting 3-1 – 3/1

Roger Federer has the chance to go back to the number one spot in the world at Flushing Meadows.

If the Swiss king wins the tournament and Rafa Nadal fails to make the semis, he’ll take top spot. Thankfully, he’s never lost to Benoit Paire – his opponent today.

However, the Frenchman had multiple match points in their recent meeting at the ATP Halle event. And Paire will fancy taking a set off the Grand Slam champion.

Matthew Ebden to beat Philip Kohlschreiber – 13/8

Australia’s Matthew Ebden faces a very tough task in overcoming Germany’s Philip Kohlschreiber.

He had a draining five-set clash with Filip Krajinovic in the previous round. But, ultimately, he’s now got plenty of momentum.

They’ve played each other twice before, and the head-to-head record stands at one-a-piece. Kohlschreiber has reached the last-16 in four of his six US Open appearances.

But Ebden is definitely playing the better tennis of the pair. And if he can get his energy levels back up, could post another win here.

Eugenia Bouchard to beat Marketa Vondrousova – 8/11

Former Wimbledon finalist Genie Bouchard has the chance to win her first second-round Slam win since the 2017 Australian Open.

The ex-world number five has been working her way back to form. And she defeated wildcard Harmony Tan in the previous round, 6-3 6-1.

Her opponent today, Marketa Vondrousova, makes only her second appearance at Flushing Meadows. The 19-year-old is a star-in-the-making but could lack experience against Bouchard today.

In addition, Vondrousova hasn’t had the best of seasons and could find herself a little out of her depth against the Canadian.

Monica Puig to beat Caroline Garcia – 7/4

Despite being the sixth-seed, Caroline Garcia faces a tough task against Monica Puig.

The French star beat Johanna Konta easily in the previous round, didn’t give up a single break point against the Briton.

By all accounts, she’s the strong favourite here. However, Puig has a dominant head-to-head record against Garcia, winning three from three previous meetings.

The Puerto Rican hasn’t beaten a top-10 player at a Slam since Wimbledon 2013. But she’s been in good form recently and may feel as though she has the star sign over Garcia.
