Odds and insight ahead of weekend clashes

The first weekend of Premier League action provided plenty of excitement, but few upsets. Liverpool sit top of the tree after a 4-0 rout of West Ham United, with Chelsea second after breezing to a 3-0 win at Huddersfield Town.

Ahead of another weekend of top-flight action, the Coral News Team take a look at the key talking-points…

Can Cardiff bounce back from toothless opener?

Cardiff City had plenty of doubters ahead of this campaign. And few will have changed their outlook after a 2-0 opening day loss at AFC Bournemouth – in which they managed a single shot on target.

In fact, Coral’s trading team currently make them 8/15 for relegation.

The Bluebirds’ promotion last term was a triumph of home form. Neil Warnock’s side won 16 of their 23 home league games – more than any other side in the division.

Newcastle are the visitors to the Cardiff City Stadium this Saturday – and the Bluebirds must again show the defensive grit and organisation which saw them concede just 16 home goals last term. It’s 21/10 for a Cardiff win in this clash.

All signs point to goalfest at Wembley

Tottenham Hotspur’s ground woes continue, with the club’s new stadium unlikely to be completed until mid-season. But the Spurs squad looked unaffected by the disruption as they grabbed a deserved 2-1 win at St James’ Park last weekend.

Their visitors this weekend are Fulham – and everything points to a cracking game for the neutral.

Each of the last three meetings have produced three or more goals – with Spurs winning the most recent league clash 3-1.

The Cottagers were the highest scorers away from home in last season’s Championship. Meanwhile, Spurs have averaged over two goals a game at Wembley. It’s 10/11 for Both Teams to Scoere, and 5/4 for Over 3.5 Goals.

Will Everton new boy provide Rich returns again?

Summer signing Richarlison proved an instant hero for Everton last weekend, scoring twice. And it was the manner of the 21-year-old’s two very different strikes which underlined the range of qualities he has.

The first was a classic poacher’s goal, slotted in from close range in the melee following a free kick. His second was a stunning curled effort unleashed after a marauding run into the box.

Much has been made of the fee spent on the Brazilian – which could rise to £44m – but the early signs are extremely promising.

Everton are 17/20 for victory at home to Southampton on Saturday. As for Richarlison, he’s 13/5 to net anytime, and 14/1 to score two or more goals again.

Can Blues end five-game wait for derby glory?

Former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte may have delivered a Premier League title and an FA Cup to Stamford Bridge. But he struggled to produce a win over rivals Arsenal.

The Blues have won none of their last six against the Gunners. Both of last season’s Prem meetings ended level, whilst the Gunners also won the pair’s Carabao Cup semi-final (2-1 on aggregate).

It’s been a source of frustration for Blues fans. So victory in this fixture would be an ideal way for new boss Maurizio Sarri to endear himself to the Chelsea faithful. It’s 4/5 for a Chelsea win, while another draw between the pair is priced at 16/5.
