Betting preview and tips for Goodwood day two

The Coral traders were lift licking their wounds on day one at Glorious Goodwood as favourites Stradivarius, Sir Dancealot and Dark Vision rattled home in successive races.

Without Parole’s clash with Expert Eye in the Sussex Stakes provides the main betting heat on day two. The Coral News Team has had their say on that contest, and the other six races throughout the day, in their ITV Racing Tips…

Without Parole the lock of the day?

Eight runners still hold entries for the Sussex Stakes after Monday’s 48-hour declaration stage. But it looks set to be a straightforward shootout between Expert Eye and Without Parole as to who lands the bulk of the £593,392 pot.

Both have claims. But it’s the latter that gets the nod from us. John Gosden’s unbeaten colt has rinsed the field in each of his four starts, including last time out in the Group 1 St James’s Palace Stakes at Ascot.

None of his opponents can boast that level of form. While his main foe must answer questions over the trip after finishing 10th in the 2,000 Guineas in May. Our pick remains open to improvement and can secure the five-timer in good fashion this afternoon.

Rumble Inthejungle up for the fight?

After winning on debut, Richard Spencer’s Rumble Inthejungle came home a creditable fourth in the Norfolk Stakes last month.

He had a number of interesting runners behind him that day, including Kinks, Vintage Brut and future Group 2 runner-up, Konchek. He looks the progressive type and has to be considered on each-way terms at the very least.

If the shoe fits for Glass Slippers

Picking the winner in a maiden is fraught with difficulty, but we think we may just have found the answer in this one with Glass Slippers.

Kevin Ryan’s charge has only raced once in her fledgling two-year-old career, finishing third in a 6f contest at Haydock in June. Angel’s Hideaway won the race that day, and has since gone onto place in the Duke of Cambridge Stakes and land a Group 3 contest last time out.

In the absence of any real form to dissect ahead of the race, we’re happy to take that information on board and go with the Dream Ahead filly at a more than enticing price.
