Carl Frampton v Luke Jackson preview: The Jackal to ease to simple win?

Tyson Fury also on the bill

There’s a cracking night of boxing in Belfast this Saturday with two huge names of British and Irish boxing involved.

Hometown hero Carl Frampton takes on Luke Jackson, with Tyson Fury up against Francesco Pianeta just before the main fight.

Frampton is coming off a big win against Nonito Donaire and will be looking to step up preparations for a potential bout with Josh Warrington.

After an easy victory against Sefer Seferi, Fury’s comeback continues apace, with a mega heavyweight showdown in his sights.

You can catch the action live from 7:45pm on BT Sport 1. And the Coral News Team have you covered with tips for both bouts.

Tyson Fury v Francesco Pianeta

Fury steps up his comeback with a scheduled 10-round bout with Italian heavyweight, Pianeta.

The game 6ft 5in southpaw is well past his prime in terms of the modern heavyweight landscape. But he’s a twice world title contender and has fought Wladimir Klitschko. At the very least, he has a bit of pedigree about him.

If Fury doesn’t come to the party well-prepared, he could be in for a bit of a shock. However, going by images of his most recent physique, the former world champion looks in top nick.

The 29-year-old has slimmed right down. And with a title shot against Deontay Wilder in Las Vegas lined up, it’ll be a massive surprise if fails to win.

Fury is a 1/100 shot to win. Which is all you need to know regarding how the Coral traders see this one going.

The Gypsy King might want to make a statement here. In Round betting, Rounds 1-5 are 5/4 with a First Round stoppage a 14/1 shot.

Carl Frampton v Luke Jackson

There’s no getting it away from the fact that this match-up is a step down for Frampton. His opponent – at 33-years-old – has never fought outside of Australia.

And Jackson’s opponents have been, to put it mildly, local. He’s a brash-talking boxer, however. And it certainly seems to have gotten under the Jackal’s skin in the run-up to this bout.

The Australian is right, though. He is not here to make friends or to sweet-talk the champion.

However, the issue for him is that he has never fought a boxer as good as Frampton professionally. In fact, he’s been nowhere near it. Jackson is stepping into choppy waters here, but at least he’s talking a good game.

Frampton is 1/50 favourite to win here. And on home soil, with the gulf is class, we’re expecting a stoppage. That’s a 2/5 shot. But in the Round betting, Rounds 1-6 is at 9/5.
