Juventus ace could be heading to the Premier League

Reports in the Italian media today have linked Argentina striker Gonzalo Higuain with a big-money move to Chelsea.

Cristiano Ronaldo has been heavily linked with a switch to Juventus. And that would make one of Higuain or Mario Mandzukic surplus to requirements at the Turin outfit.

The Coral News Team take a look at why the former Real Madrid ace would fit in perfectly in West London.

Reunited with Sarri

If, as expected, Maurizio Sarri takes over from Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge, it would make complete sense for the duo to be reunited at Chelsea.

Higuain spent one season at the Stadio San Paolo under Sarri before moving to Juve. And under the tutelage of the former Empoli coach, the 30-year-old scored 40 goals in just 38 starts.

Sarri’s style of football generally gets the best out of forward lines. His sides’ attacking football creates lots of chances and Higuain is a top finisher.

Chelsea need the firepower

The Blues have lacked a natural-born goalscorer since Diego Costa left the club. Michy Batshuayi has been unable to break into the first team on a consistent basis.

Alvaro Morata flattered to deceive despite a rip-roaring start to his Chelsea career. And Olivier Giroud just isn’t prolific enough.

Higuain is a goal-getter and has managed 20-plus strikes in each of his last five seasons. In fact, the most prolific season of his career was under Sarri at the Partenopei.

A persuasive signing?

It’s not exactly a secret that Eden Hazard is prospectively looking at pastures new this summer. The Belgian superstar has been courted by a host of top clubs and could finally exit the London club.

However, a signing like Higuain could convince Hazard – and a number of senior players – that their futures remain at Chelsea.

With Sarri’s appointment, and the inclusion of a proven, prolific striker, Chelsea could thrive this season. Especially with no Champions League football to distract them.
