What would Andre Schurrle bring to Fulham?
World Cup winner could be returning to the Premier League
Fulham have finally joined the summer transfer party in the last few weeks.
The big coup of luring Jean-Michael Seri – amid interest from Barcelona – was followed by signing Besiktas goalkeeper Fabri.
As the club prepare for their Premier League comeback, they’re now closing in on the signing of Andre Schurrle from Borussia Dortmund on a season-long loan.
The Coral News Team look at how he could fit in at Craven Cottage…
Premier League experience
The Fulham faithful will be familiar with Schurrle following his spell at local rivals Chelsea.
He enjoyed a solid two seasons at Stamford Bridge – even notching a hat-trick against his potential new employers in March 2014.
Schurrle played 44 times in the league notching eleven goals but won’t have any problems acclimatising to the hustle and bustle of English football.
Big game player
The 27-year-old has done it on the biggest stage of them all. Providing the pivotal assist for Mario Gotze’s World Cup-winning goal in 2014.
He also scored the crucial goal in the 2014 Champions League quarter-final over Paris Saint-Germain that sent Chelsea through.
Since then he has gone on to play for Wolfsburg and Borussia Dortmund.
Schurrle was sidelined with injury for much of last season but showed his big game credentials by notching the winner in the Rheinland derby against FC Koln.
Even in an injury-hit season with Dortmund last year he played in at least four positions over the campaign.
He is naturally comfortable playing from the left or right side of a three-man attack but did play centre-forward on more than one occasion.
This will significantly improve Slavisa Jokanovic’s options. The German could link-up well with young prodigy Ryan Sessegnon and the possible arrival of striker Aleksandar Mitrovic.
If a partnership between Schurrle and Seri can blossom quickly then Fulham could really entertain.
