Odds and previews ahead of ladies’ last-eight matches

Wednesday sees the business end of the tournament begin as the Ladies quarter-finals kick off.

The four matches takes place across the afternoon and evening on Centre Court and No.1 Court. Serena Williams and Angelique Kerber are the big names left in the draw.

The Coral News Team tip up the four last-eight clashes…

Daria Kasatkina v Angelique Kerber – Over 2.5 Sets @ 5/4

This is a very interesting match-up to kick off proceedings on Centre Court. Kerber has made a bit of a comeback in 2018 after a particularly rough season the year before.

The 30-year-old has plenty of experience at SW19 having lost in the 2016 final to Serena Williams. However, the German has climbed back up the rankings to number 10 this season and the draw has opened up nicely for her here.

But she faces a tough task today in young Russian ace, Daria Kasatkina. The 21-year-old has also plenty of experience against Kerber, winning three of the previous six meetings.

Both players have only dropped one set coming into this so they should be reasonably fresh. This could be a long, competitive game.

Dominika Cibulkova to beat Jelena Ostakpenko – 11/10

This is a tough match to call between Cibulkova and Ostapenko. Both players have had similarly average seasons to date.

Cibulkova has dropped to 33 in the WTA rankings from a career-high 4th back in 2017. And she exited both the Australian and French Opens in the first round.

Ostapenko also bowed out in the opening round at Roland Garros failing to defend the slam she’d won the previous year. The Latvian bowed out at SW19 at this stage last year.

And in the head-to-head record, Cibulkova holds a 2-0 record over here and should edge this in a tight affair.

Serena Williams to beat Camila Giorgi 2-1 in sets – 11/4

Ominously, Serena Williams arrives at the quarter-finals stage having not lost a single set. Her opponent today is the skillful Camila Giorgi. On form, Giorgi is a clever, excellent grass court player and can beat almost anyone.

However, as deft as the Italian is, it’s going to take an extraordinary performance to stop Serena. But the seven-time Wimbledon champion is arguably not back to her powerful best just yet.

And that may just present an opportunity for Giorgi to make it slightly more difficult for the American. Serena to win 2-1 in Set Betting is 11/4.

Kiki Bertens to beat Julia Goerges – 4/5

Bertens has enjoyed a pretty impressive tournament so far. The Dutch ace has defeated Venus Williams and tournament favourite Karolina Pliskova in consecutive matches.

And that’s despite the fact that the 26-year-old had never gone beyond the third round at SW19.

Although her opponent here, Goerges, hadn’t progressed past the first round at Wimbledon in her last five attempts, either.

Both players are more comfortable on other surfaces which evens things out slightly. But Bertens’ confidence must be sky-high heading into this last-eight clash and we give her the edge.
