Tour de France hero Geraint Thomas now second fav for SPOTY 2018
Is star cyclist set for personal glory?
Following his stunning Tour de France victory, Welsh cyclist Geraint Thomas has been installed as second-favourite to win this year’s Sports Personality of the Year.
The 32-year-old is 5/2 to scoop the award, after becoming the fourth successive British winner of the Tour.
That makes him the closest challenger to 10/11 favourite Harry Kane.
And it looks like a two-horse race. Anthony Joshua at 8/1 is some way behind at third in the betting, with Jordan Pickford at 12s and 16/1 for Lewis Hamilton.
Coral’s Harry Aitkenhead said: “It’s been a fantastic summer of sport for the UK with Welshman Thomas’ Tour de France win following off the back of the England team getting to their first World Cup semi-final in 28 years.”
Aitkenhead added: “It now looks like a close fight between Thomas and Harry Kane for SPOTY, but at the moment we still make Kane the slight favourite,”
