Odds, tips and previews for today’s tennis action

The summer of sport gets even better today as Wimbledon gets underway. Monday sees many of the game’s biggest names in action, including Roger Federer and Serena Williams.

The Coral News Team will have plenty of tips for you throughout the tournament, starting with these…

Roger Federer to beat Dusan Lajovic in straight sets – 1/6

Federer beat Lajovic on his way to winning an eighth Wimbledon title last year. He shouldn’t have too many problems beating him this year either.

The veteran didn’t look quite at his best in his warm-up events, but SW19 is his stage.

Gregor Dimitrov to beat Stanislas Wawrinka – 1/4

The draw has served up a huge early clash between two top-10 stalwarts. Ordinarily this would be a very tight affair, but Wawrinka’s recent injury troubles put him at a serious disadvantage.

Andy Murray has decided he isn’t fit enough to play at Wimbledon this year, but he was still able to beat Wawrinka last week. Dimitrov should make it five wins in seven meetings against the Swiss star.

Serena Williams to beat Arantxa Rus in three sets – 7/2

The seven-time Wimbledon winner missed last year’s event while pregnant, which means she’s seeded 25th this year. If the 36-year-old has fully recovered from the pectoral injury that forced her to retire from the French Open, expect her to be a serious challenger again.

But with so little match practice this year, she’s unlikely to hit her stride right away. It wouldn’t be a surprise if Serena drops a set as she shakes off the rustiness.

Sloane Stephens to beat Donna Vekic in straight sets – 11/8

After winning the US Open and reaching the French Open final, there’s no doubt that Sloane Stephens is a major contender for Grand Slam titles now.

Her best showing at Wimbledon is reaching the quarter-finals back in 2013. The American will be determined to improve on that this time around. And she should be too good for the unseeded Vekic.

Karolina Pliskova to beat Harriet Dart 2-1 – 3/1

Karolina Pliskova seems to have regressed since topping the women’s rankings last summer. Currently ranked eighth, she’s had a difficult season so far.

Dart will be fired up in front of the home crowd for her first Grand Slam singles match, but Pliskova’s quality should eventually pull through.

Big match previews, betting tips and transfer news – we’ve got it all.
