Chelsea could be on the lookout for a new goalkeeper with betting now suspended on current number one Thibaut Courtois moving to Real Madrid.

The Coral traders had gone as short as 1/6 on a transfer taking place before being forced to suspend the market early on Thursday morning.

New Blues boss Maurizio Sarri could now be looking for a new number one, with Leicester City stopper Kasper Schmeichel reportedly at the front of the queue.

The rangy Dane has impressed with the Foxes over a number of years and enhanced his reputation further during the World Cup in Russia. Danny Ward’s transfer from Liverpool to the King Power Stadium has sparked speculation that Schmeichel could be off.

He’s the 5/2 favourite to move to Stamford Bridge, ahead of Jack Butland (4/1), Petr Cech (5/1) and Jan Oblak (6/1).

“It looks like Courtois is packing his bags for Spain, therefore we have pulled the plug on this market and are instead concentrating on who his replacement will be, with Kasper Schmeichel the early favourite,” said Coral’s John Hill.

**Next Chelsea Goalkeeper
5-2 Kasper Schmeichel, 4-1 Jack Butland, 5-1 Petr Cech, 6-1 Jan Oblak, 8-1 Jordan Pickford.
