Liverpool amongst the summer’s top spenders

The World Cup may be in full flow, but that doesn’t mean chairmen and managers of Europe’s biggest club sides are in holiday mode.

Across the continent, major deals are being done – involving some of the game’s most exciting talents.

The Coral News Team take a look at the biggest completed moves on these shores, and in Europe’s other top leagues.

Premier League

Jurgen Klopp has parted with some sizeable sums in recent weeks, as he looks to make Liverpool title contenders next term.

The Reds have secured the long-awaited capture of Naby Keita for £54m, as well as splashing out £45m for Monaco right-back Fabinho.

Across the North-West, Manchester United have also boosted their hopes of a title tilt with the arrival of Brazilian international Fred. The Red Devils also look to have solved their right-back quandary with £19.8m man Diogo Dalot from FC Porto.

As for Arsenal, new boss Unai Emery has also been busy. The Spaniard is looking to bolster their backline, having brought in Stephan Lichtsteiner on a free, before spending an estimated £19m on German stopper Bernd Leno.

Huddersfield Town have snapped up last season’s loan hero on a permanent deal. Terence Kongolo was a hit when he arrived from AS Monaco, and David Wagner has now made him the club’s record signing.

Elsewhere, Watford have also made their loan addition of Gerard Deulofeu permanent.

Premier League newboys Cardiff City have signed highly-rated winger Josh Murphy, while the current champions Manchester City have been unusually quiet, spending just £2.6m to bag Dutch youngster Philippe Sandler.

Europe

Unusually in Spain, it’s not Barcelona or Real Madrid who are the top scorers this summer, but Villarreal. They’ve spent £15m+ on three different players, including Ramiro Funes Mori from Everton.

However, Los Blancos have made one big investment for the future between the posts. The 19-year-old goalkeeper Andriy Lunin arrives from Zorya Luhansk.

In Germany, Bayern Munich have once again poached a key man from one of their rivals. Midfielder Leon Goretzka arrives from Schalke 04, who finished second in the Bundesliga last term.

Juventus narrowly retained the Serie A title last term, despite a valiant fight from Napoli. The Old Lady will look to dominate once again, following this summer’s signing of Emre Can.

The biggest buy from a French club thus far has come from Nice. They’ve managed quite a coup by bringing Brazilian prodigy Danilo in from FC Braga.
