Three forward options for Everton to consider

Rooney exit confirmed

Wayne Rooney finally sealed his exit from Everton today after just one season back at Goodison Park.

The former England captain is off to MLS after signing on a £300,000-a-week deal with DC United.

New head coach at Everton, Marco Silva, will now be chomping at the bit to bring in some forward-line reinforcements.

The Coral News Team select three options that could fit the bill…

Ante Rebic

The Croatian ace spent last season on-loan at Eintracht Frankfurt from Fiorentina. And in the Bundesliga, he scored a healthy nine goals in 28 appearances for Niko Kovac’s side.

Two of those were in the DFB Pokal final against Bayern Munich in which Eintracht won 3-1. Rebic scored two superb goals, bursting away from the Bayern defence to finish with aplomb.

The 24-year-old also scored a stunning goal in the Group D clash against Argentina at the World Cup, truly announcing himself on the global stage.

His mix of youth, pace, versatility and finishing ability would be perfect for the Blues. And thankfully, the Merseyside outfit have been linked with a £27m move.

Rodrigo

Currently locked away with the Spain national team in Russia, now might not be the best time to make a move for Rodrigo.

But the Valencia forward is hugely talented and ticks a lot of the boxes Silva would require. He can play across the forward line, has bags of pace, and scores plenty of goals.

The 27-year-old managed 16 in 31 La Liga appearances last term. Tottenham Hotspur and Juventus are reportedly also in for the Benfica ace.

Jamie Vardy

If pace and directness is what you’re after, they don’t get more effective than Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy.

He’s another man who’s preoccupied at the World Cup. But could the England striker be tempted by a move to Goodison Park?

He’s been Leicester a long time now and he’s probably comfortable in the East Midlands. However, Vardy has arguably hit a ceiling at the Foxes and there’s not much more he can do at the King Power Stadium.

A move to Merseyside could re-energise the England man. And it could certainly present a boost in wages.
