Royal Ascot: Order Of St George to reclaim title on Day Three

Day Three of Royal Ascot looks a bit of a belter with the Ascot Gold Cup the feature race of the day three.
After a hellish opening day, Wednesday went the punter’s way to an extent. And it could be more of the same today as the ITV live cameras ready themselves for the action.
The Coral News Team preview three of the races, and tip up all six renewals.
Ascot Gold Cup, 4:20pm
In truth, it’s the only place to start. This Group 1 showpiece is shaping up to be a battle of Order of St George against Stradivarius.
Thankfully for the former, last year’s winner Big Orange is absent this time around. Not that it would make much difference as Aidan O’Brien’s charge is in superb form anyway.
A winner of this 2m 4f race in 2016, he was just pipped at the post last year. This six-year-old son of Galileo has won on his last three outings and hosed up in two of them. He’s got the form, the history and the class to go again here.
Norfolk Stakes, 2:30pm
Tim Easterby looks like he could have a sprinting star on his hands in the shape of Vintage Brut.
The two-year-old son of Dick Turpin has looked very impressive winning on both his outings at Thirsk and Sandown.
Watching the Sandown race back, he didn’t seem to get away sharply from the off that day. But he bolted up and looks a very progressive sort.
Clive Cox’s Konchek currently heads the betting. But Vintage Brut beat him well that day. And in similar conditions, can triumph once again.
Britannia Stakes, 5:00pm
This 1m renewal looks a very competitive field but the Coral News Team spot a nice opportunity in Hugo Palmer’s Corrosive.
Royal Ascot loves a good story. And it’d be quite the triumph for Josephine Gordon if she can land a first ever victory at the Berkshire racecourse.
She rides on board the three-year-old and the partnership certainly makes appeal given their record together. The duo have won on their last three starts, including a cracking win at this course and distance back in May.
Of all the options, Palmer’s charge looks the most interesting.
