World Cup warm-ups dominate today’s line-up
As we count down the days until the summer showpiece begins, there are still a host of nations looking to put the final touches to their preparation.
Serbia, Spain and France are all going to be in Russia later this month and feature in Coral News Team’s picks of the day…
Serbia to beat Bolivia – 6/5
Serbia close their World Cup preparations at home to Bolivia looking to make it two wins from two.
Premier League regulars Nemanja Matic and Luka Milivojevic may make up a mean midfield duo.
Whilst Dusan Tadic and former Manchester United man Adem Ljajic could provide support to Aleksandar Mitrovic.
Serbia face a tough group which contains Brazil and Switzerland. But this game will be a great yard-stick for them when they take on Costa Rica in their first match of the tournament.
Denmark to beat Mexico – 7/5
This one looks like it could be a tight contest. Mexico always bring a real threat in attack.
The rejuvenated Carlos Vela and star of qualification, Hirving Lozano have the pace and guile to threaten the Danish back-line.
However, Denmark are a solid, dependable outfit who have kept five clean sheets in their previous eight games.
They also have a match-winner in Christian Eriksen. He has grown increasingly influential for his national side and with home advantage the Danes could take this one.
Spain to beat Tunisia – 1/4
Spain have re-emerged as one of the favourites of the competition. This is despite failing to qualify for the knock-out rounds in 2014.
Since then, they’ve changed manager and had a re-shuffle of their squad.
Saul Niguez and Koke have become key figures in the midfield. David de Gea has usurped Iker Casillas as undisputed number-one and Marco Asensio is more than just potential now.
Tunisia have some dangerous players including ex-Sunderland star Wahbi Khazri and Anice Badri.
But Spain could well prove just too much to handle.
France to beat USA – 2/13
The US would have hoped and expected this fixture to be played in Russia this summer. But as it is, they have used this period to blood some of their highly-rated youngsters.
Timothy Weah and Josh Sargent have impressed in recent friendlies. But it’s fellow youngster Christian Pulisic who will be the biggest threat to Les Bleus.
Didier Deschamps will more than likely play a full-strength side though as he ups the ante ahead of the World Cup.
USA could become World Cup regulars again soon but France should be too strong this time around.
