Coral ambassador previews Saturday at Royal Ascot

2.30 Royal Ascot – Mutawaffer

I think Mutawaffer has a great chance. He had been working very well and then ran well first time out at Ascot. Then he came out over six furlongs and really blitzed them at Goodwood.

He showed a lot of speed that day and so dropping back to five furlongs in this won’t be a problem. He has a really good chance and is definitely my best chance on the day.

There is no question the way he won at Goodwood was really impressive.

To make the running and go so hard over six furlongs and still kill them off was terrific. He should find it easier over five furlongs. He’s working well at home so I’m really hopeful.

5.00 Royal Ascot – Bacchus

I haven’t ridden this horse before and it’s his first start of the season. He had some good form last year. He’s drawn in the middle so I’ll have a look at where the main contenders are drawn and where the pace is likely to be before deciding how to approach the race.

The key to races like this is to be drawn in the right place around the right horses.

In the Britannia on Thursday I was drawn in one and I was completely the wrong side of the track. I had no chance.

There’s no point in being up front and sucked into an early battle , but then if they go slow you don’t want to be too far out of your ground, so it’s very tricky and there’s a lot of luck involved.

It’s a very hard race to pick the winner of.

5.35 Royal Ascot – Fun Mac

He’s a grand horse. He’s run in the race before and Hughie Morrison’s horses are in really good form.

He was second in a Chester Cup in May and I was placed on him in the same race the year before.

He’s got a good solid chance and you know he’ll stay. It doesn’t look a strong race so he must have a good chance.
