Betting suspended on Maurizio Sarri replacing Conte at Chelsea
New boss in the door at Stamford Bridge?
Maurizio Sarri looks set to be named as the new Chelsea manager after Coral suspended betting on the Italian taking over at Stamford Bridge.
The former Napoli man has been favourite for the role for some time and was as short as 1/10 to get the job before our traders suspended betting on the market.
Chelsea had previously pulled the plug on a potential deal after citing ‘behavioural concerns’ over the fiery 59-year-old.
But in a dramatic u-turn, Blues now look set to name Sarri as the 13th manager of the Roman Abramovich era.
“It looks like Chelsea are on the verge of announcing Sarri as their new manager therefore we have pulled the plug on this market. The former Napoli man has been well-backed to get the job as it appears this has been the worst kept secret in football for a long time,” said Coral’s John Hill.
The West Londoners were installed as the 9/1 fourth-favourites to win the 2018-19 Premier League following the fixtures announcement almost a fortnight ago.
