Who stood out from the crowd?
Everyone knows Manchester City were the outstanding side in this season’s Premier League. And Mohamed Salah set a new record with 32 top-flight goals. But who else stood out in the stats?
The Coral News Team have been looking over the figures to see which players recorded the most assists, played the most passes and more…
Most Assists – Kevin De Bruyne (16)
De Bruyne was Salah’s only competition for the individual honours at the end of the campaign.
The Belgian was City’s best performer but all four of the players with the most assists in the division played for Pep Guardiola’s side – Leroy Sane (15), David Silva (11), Raheem Sterling (11).
Most Passes – Granit Xhaka (3,116)
Granit Xhaka has his critics but there’s no denying he’s got a great left foot. If Arsenal’s next manager finds a system that doesn’t expose his weaknesses, he could really kick on.
Most Shots – Harry Kane (184)
Harry Kane leads the way in shots for the second time in the last three seasons. If the Tottenham Hotspur gets a sight of goal, he’s going to let fly. Mo Salah had 40 fewer shots than Kane in second.
Most Tackles – Wilfred Ndidi (138)
After unearthing N’Golo Kante, Leicester City may have done it again with Ndidi. The midfielder is still only 21-years-old and will only get better.
Most Blocks – Shane Duffy (59)
Shane Duffy’s defensive partnership with Lewis Dunk was a major factor in Brighton & Hove Albion’s survival this term. As well as leading the division in blocks, Duffy also made the most clearances (327).
Most Clean Sheets – David de Gea (18)
No surprises here after another superb campaign from De Gea. He’s been Manchester United’s Player of the Season in three of the last four years.
Most Saves – Jack Butland (144)
Jack Butland was one of the few Stoke City players to emerge with any credit from the campaign. He’s set to go to the World Cup with England and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him back in the top flight next term.
