Coral round up this weekend’s sport

The sporting action continues thick and fast over the Bank Holiday weekend, with plenty of events taking place at home and abroad.

Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel go head-to-head in the prestigious Monaco Grand Prix, while Real Madrid and Liverpool meet in Kiev to contest the Champions League Final.

There’s also the small matter of the Championship Play-Off Final, the Premiership Rugby Final and England’s first home test of the summer against Pakistan.

The Coral News Team have previewed all of the action over the long weekend…

Championship Play-Off Final

Bank Holiday is all about the Championship Play-Off Final. Will Fulham’s young guard fulfil their promise and make it back to the Premier League? Or can wily old fox Steve Bruce mastermind a third play-off success and return Aston Villa to the top-flight after two years away?

The Cottagers are the 13/10 favourites at Wembley following a run of two defeats in 22. The Villans are 12/5 to pick up only their second win in five visits to the North London venue.

Man of the moment Ryan Sessegnon netted in the play-off semi-finals. The youngster is sure to be in the thick of the action once again and is a 19/10 to Score Anytime.

Monaco Grand Prix

The sixth round of the 2018 F1 season sees the teams head to Monte Carlo for the Monaco Grand Prix.

Lewis Hamilton made it back-to-back wins in Barcelona last time out and is 11/4 to make it around the winding street-circuit in first spot. Title rival Sebastian Vettel won here last year and will once again be the Briton’s main opposition. He’s considered the favourite by our traders at 7/4.

With glorious sunshine forecast for across the race weekend, the Coral News Team can’t wait for the jewel in the crown of the F1 season.

Champions League Final

No team has won three consecutive Champions League or European Cup trophies since Bayern Munich in the 1970s. But that’s what Real Madrid will be attempting to achieve when they go up against Liverpool in Kiev on Saturday night.

Zinedine Zidane’s side have won their last six UCL finals and are 6/5 favourites to continue that run. Liverpool, on the other hand, are competing in their first Champions League Final since 2007.

They’ve wowed Europe with their scintillating attacking football this term and are 2/1 to round out the campaign with a win in the showpiece event.

England v Pakistan

England begin their summer schedule with a two-match Test Series against Pakistan at Lord’s on Thursday. Coach Trevor Bayliss will be hoping for some serious improvement from his side after a disastrous winter tour.

The Three Lions were humbled 4-0 Down Under in the Ashes before suffering a 1-0 series defeat in New Zealand. England have, though, won their last two Test Series’ on home soil.

But they’ll be hoping to avoid a repeat of the 75-run win Pakistan inflicted on the hosts when they last met at Lord’s in 2016.

Rugby Union Premiership Final

It’s become commonplace in recent years for Saracens and the Exeter Chiefs to dominate the Rugby Union Premiership. The pair have won the last three finals combined. They also met in the 2015-16 showpiece, which Sarries won 28-20.

The Men in Black will start as the 4/6 favourites once again despite finishing the regular season seven points behind the Chiefs. Exeter, who demolished Newcastle Falcons in their semi-final, are narrow outsiders at 5/4.

Saracens’ Owen Farrell has scored 47 points more than any other player in the Premiership this season. Their Sandy Park opponents will have to be at their best if they’re to deny the 26-year-old another memorable afternoon in West London.
