Four acca tips from today’s games

Tuesday has some very intriguing football fixtures to feast upon, with a relegation six-pointer the star of the show.

Swansea and Southampton duke it out in South Wales in a bid to stay in England’s top-flight. Plus there’s a handful of games from Scotland’s Premiership.

The Coral News Team select four of the best bets from today’s games.

Swansea v Southampton – Draw @ 21/10

Swansea host Southampton in what is essentially a relegation play-off at the Liberty Stadium.

Saints need maximum points more than the Swans do. And that may be to their detriment.

Assuming Mark Hughes’ side lose against Manchester City on the final day, Carlos Carvalhal’s side could settle for a point knowing a win against relegated-Stoke City will seal their safety.

Both sides will be terrified to lose this game so expect it to be tense and tight.

Partick Thistle to beat Motherwell – 6/5

Partick have two games to save themselves from a dreaded promotion/relegation play-off with the Championship’s second-best side.

Alan Archibald’s side are in decent form with a win and two draws in their last three. They host a Motherwell side with nothing to play for.

The Jags are ripe for three points here and can bag a win when it matters the most.

Rangers to beat Aberdeen – 15/8

Rangers are just a point behind Aberdeen coming into this game at Pittodrie. And the Gers have a chance of stopping Derek McInnes’ side finishing second for the fourth successive year.

That will be uppermost in the minds of caretaker coaches Jimmy Nicholl and Jonatan Johansson. Plus the squad will be eager to please on-looking new manager, Steven Gerrard.

Senior players Kenny Miller and Lee Wallace were frozen out under old boss Graeme Murty and could be brought back in to boost the ranks. The pressure is on Aberdeen and they might choke.

Waterford to beat Sligo Rovers – 6/4

Over in Ireland, Waterford United travel west to meet Sligo Rovers in the EA Sports Cup this evening.

Alan Reynolds’ side have made a cracking start to the season and lie in third place, level on points with Dundalk. And that includes the recent 2-1 win over Stephen Kenny’s outfit.

They’ll face a struggling Sligo side who’ve lost eight of their first 15 league games. This is a league cup so expect some changes. But Waterford will still be able to field a better quality line up and should win.
