Five picks from Saturday’s football action

For those seeking high-drama, Saturday’s football action has it all. Real Madrid and Liverpool face off in the Champions League Final, whilst at Wembley it’s ‘the richest game in football’.

The Coral News Team have five top tips on the day’s action, beginning with a certain Portuguese striker…

Cristiano Ronaldo to Score Anytime (in 90 minutes) – 3/4

The Real Madrid ace is one of – if not the – greatest players in the world right now. But he’s even better than usual when it comes to the big occasion. And it doesn’t come bigger than a Champions League Final.

Fans of Los Blancos will hope Ronaldo can repeat his feats from last year’s 4-1 final win over Juventus. The Portuguese hitman scored twice in that game, and heads into this game on the back of 15 goals in his last 13 European outings.

Aston Villa v Fulham: Under 2.5 Goals @ 4/7

The Championship Play-Off Final tends to be an extremely tight affair. Between them, the last five occasions have seen a combined five goals scored – with last year’s edition a 0-0 draw between Huddersfield Town and Reading.

In addition to that, Steve Bruce’s Villans are rarely involved in high-scoring games. Just two of their last seven games have seen more than two goals registered, with their Semi-Final tie ending with a 1-0 aggregate win over Middlesbrough.

Vancouver Whitecaps – 10/11

The Caps sit fifth in MLS’ Western Conference, and have built a reputation for strong home form. They’ve lost just one of 16 games at BC Place Stadium, and should continue that good record against New England Revolution.

Brad Friedel’s Revs have lost four of their last six games, shipping four goals at Montreal Impact on their last away trip. With home advantage on their side, the Whitecaps should have enough for three points here.

Valerenga – Evens

In the Norwegian top-flight, Valerenga continue their push for the European spots at home to strugglers Lillestrom.

The hosts have dominated recent clashes between the pair at Intility Arena, winning three and drawing two of the past five. Add the fact Lillestrom have lost eight of their last 10 league away games, and a home victory looks straightforward.

Viktoria Plzen – 11/10

Already crowned Czech champions, Viktoria Plzen are aiming to cap off the season with a victory over a decidedly mediocre Dukla Prague. The capital club are at home, but it’s hardly an advantage. They’ve lost four of the last six at Stadion Juliska.

Visitors Plzen have picked up an impressive 30 points from 14 games on the road to date, and also have a good record in this fixture. They’ve won each of the last four meetings, scoring 10 and conceding zero.
