Premier League legend is at Augusta this week

I am out in Georgia at the moment and the atmosphere is really starting to build towards the start of the tournament.

I had a walk around the course yesterday and as always it looks in great shape.

There seems to be a real sense of anticipation this year that this could be a great Masters tournament because all the big hitters are in form.

Listening to them in the interviews and speaking to people over here, you get the impression they all fancy it.

I will be cheering on the British lads, as I always do.

Hopefully one of them can come away with the Green Jacket at the end of the weekend.

Danny Willett obviously won the tournament in 2016, while Justin Rose went very close 12 months ago where he unfortunately lost in a play-off.

There were a few hole-in-ones yesterday, one of which was made by Jack Nicklaus’ grandson which the crowd absolutely loved.

Let’s hope it is a great tournament and I am really looking forward to the next few days.

Alan Shearer

Alan Shearer played his entire career at the top level of English football, winning the Premier League title with Blackburn in 1994-95. The following summer he signed for his hometown club, Newcastle United, for a then world record £15 million fee.

He ended his playing career with a record 260 Premier League goals, which still stands today. He also won 63 caps for England, including 34 as captain, and among his 30 international goals were five scored at Euro 96, a total that won him the Golden Boot at that tournament.

Now the chief pundit on Match Of The Day, Alan was one of the first two players inducted into the Premier League Hall Of Fame this year.
