Premier League Preview: Wenger’s farewell and Stoke’s last chance

The Premier League continues towards its conclusion with six fascinating fixtures this weekend.

Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal farewell begins with a home tie against West Ham United, while Stoke City will be hoping to reignite their survival ambitions against Burnley.

Can resurgent Baggies thwart Reds again?

West Brom have endured a torrid season. But their form against the big sides hasn’t been all that bad. The Baggies have drawn against Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal, are unbeaten in two fixtures with Liverpool and saw off Manchester United at Old Trafford last weekend

That’s an impressive hit list. And with the Reds prioritising their Champions League trip to Roma, could there be another shock on the cards? Darren Moore has re-energised the Midlands club in recent weeks. And they’re 11/2 to take all three points at the Hawthorns.

You can back them at 31/20 in the Double Chance market. While it’s even-money for there to be Under 2.5 Goals in the contest.

Watford’s woes to continue v Palace

Crystal Palace have an excellent record in this fixture down the years. The Eagles have only lost twice in their last 14 meetings against the Hornets.

They’re also unbeaten in their last six visits to Vicarage Road. So it’s fair to say the South Londoners like their visits to this part of Hertfordshire. And off the back of a 3-2 victory against Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend, Roy Hodgson’s side will have their confidence sky high.

They’re 29/20 to inflict more misery on the hosts, who are winless in five. And with defending neither team’s strong point, you can back Both Teams to Score at 3/4. It’s 19/5 for Crystal Palace to Win and Both Teams to Score.

Swans looking for points at City

Manchester City secured the title last weekend courtesy of Man Utd’s defeat to West Brom. And with the pressure now off for the Sky Blues, they’ll be looking to end the season with a flourish.

That could be bad news for Swansea City. The Swans have lost 10 of their 13 matches against Sunday’s hosts since being promoted to the Premier League in 2011. That trend continued with a 4-0 reverse earlier in the season.

City make little appeal as a standalone selection at 1/9. So it could be worth shopping around the various goal markets. City to Win and Over 3.5 Goals is 23/20.

Sergio Aguero has bagged three in his last three matches against the Welsh outfit. He’s 4/7 to Score Anytime and 9/4 to Score 2 or More.

London Derby at the Emirates

All the talk this week has been about Arsenal’s inability to win away from home. But at the Emirates, they have no such problem. The Gunners have won their last 19 in a row at home against sides outside the top-six. That’s some record.

They’re 8/15 to start Arsene Wenger’s farewell with all three points. West Ham will be no pushovers, though. They’ve equipped themselves well against the division’s big sides this season and recently took a point against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. You can back them at 7/5 on the Double Chance.

Andy Carroll is 9/4 to continue his good record against the Gunners with a goal at any point during the match.

Last chance saloon for Stoke City

The Premier League table is starting to look pretty bleak for Stoke City. The Potters are marooned five points from safety. They could find themselves cut further adrift by the time kick-off rolls around in Staffordshire.

Given their current deficiencies in attack and defence, a visit from Burnley could prove tough. The Clarets pride themselves on being solid at the back and efficient in front of goal. Sean Dyche’s men have won five of their last six matches and have the division’s sixth best away record.

That’s bad news for Paul Lambert and co, who are winless in 10. The visitors are 12/5 to take all three points. You can back them at 21/5 to Win to Nil.
