Can Dzeko put himself in the shop window for a move?

Edin Dzeko has played a starring role at AS Roma since his move from Manchester City two years ago.

The Bosnian has scored 43 goals in 69 appearances for the Serie A outfit since his permanent move from the Etihad Stadium in the summer of 2016. And he gets to showcase his abilities in front of his old audience again over two legs against Liverpool.

At 32-years-old, he’s certainly not the spring chicken he once was. But there’s still plenty of quality left in the legs of the former Wolfsburg ace.

Arsenal

The Gunners are heading for a tumultuous time with the post-Arsene Wenger era. But maybe that’s a good thing.

Olivier Giroud has yet to be replaced and big, mobile target men don’t come much better than Dzeko. He’s arguably a player that Wenger would never have gone for. But a new manager with fresh eyes might see value in him where the Frenchman wouldn’t have.

Arsenal play similar-ish football to the Giallorossi and the Bosnia international would have little trouble fitting into that style template.

Liverpool

When Jurgen Klopp’s front trio of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, and Saido Mane work, they work outrageously well.

But the German doesn’t really have an adequate alternative plan. At 20-years-old, Dominic Solanke is hugely talented but still one for the future.

Klopp played with a similar forward in Robert Lewandowski at Borussia Dortmund. The addition of Dzeko would allow the Reds to mix it up and still retain plenty of quality up top.

Tottenham Hotspur

Fernando Llorente’s move hasn’t really worked out at White Hart Lane, has he? It’s not his fault, in truth. Harry Kane is the main man at Spurs and Mauricio Pochettino rarely drops him. Understandably so.

Llorente isn’t known for his nimbleness and needs games to be sharp. Dzeko is a little more agile than the Spaniard and would arguably be a more effective rotational partner with Kane.

He’s got pace, heading ability and fantastic finishing. If the Argentine coach is looking for a better option than Llorente, then look no further than the ex-Man City star.
