Four selections from the day’s games

There’s plenty of football to sink your teeth into across Monday as the season winds to a close before the World Cup.

There’s Premier League action from Merseyside. La Liga and Serie A have games going on, plus the usual fixtures from across the likes of Scandinavia, Turkey and beyond.

The Coral News Team have picked out five teams who they like the look of…

Everton to beat Newcastle – 5/4

There are few things Sam Allardyce enjoys more than proving doubters wrong. And the Everton manager gets the chance to give two fingers to both his detractors and his old club when the Toffees host Newcastle United.

Rafael Benitez’s side have won four-in-a-row to secure their Premier League safety and will be no pushovers. But now their job has been completed, they may step off the gas.

Everton are decent at home and should snag a typical Big Sam win.

Levante to beat Athletic Bilbao – 21/5

Levante are on the cusp of another miraculous survival and can pull further clear of the drop-zone if they win at Athletic Bilbao.

Thankfully, Athletic are safe in mid-table with nothing to play for. All the motivation here lies with Francisco Fernandez’s outfit.

The Valencia-based side are in good form too, winning three and drawing two of their last six league games. Athletic, usually strong at San Mames, have won just five home league games all season.

Verona to beat Genoa – 13/2

Can Hellas Verona begin their own miraculous climb to survival in Serie A? They travel to take on Genoa who sit safely perched in mid-table.

Verona’s away form is pretty poor, winning just twice on the road this term. But Fabio Pecchia’s side have to start somewhere, and the Stadio Luigi Ferraris isn’t a bad place to begin their escape route.

The Gialloblu have won just five league games on home soil all season.

Fenerbahce to beat Antalyaspor – 3/10

Fenerbahce are still in the hunt for Champions League football next season, and desperately need a win here to stay in touch with the other three leading teams.

Aykut Kocaman’s side have lost just two home games all season, winning eight of their 14 fixtures at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium.

Antalyaspor are 12th, and should be safe from any relegation worries. At this stage of the season, a lot of the time it’s all about who wants it more.

Fenerbache should have the quality to get the job done.
