Premier League legend also discusses Man City’s quadruple

Spotless Spotland

Tottenham travel to Rochdale on Sunday and Mauricio Pochettino was very critical of the Spotland pitch before it was relaid.

I understand that, as he is looking after his players and football club. Ultimately though, that is what the FA Cup is all about.

Often the big clubs will have to play on pitches that they are not used to and go to grounds where their dressing rooms are not as luxurious as they are in the Premier League and it’s those little things that throw them off and lead to the giant killings.

This competition should be a priority now for the likes for Spurs.

It is their most realistic chance of silverware because the league has gone.

I know they have to wrap up fourth place for Champions League football but fans want to see their clubs win trophies.

Man City’s quadruple chances

Manchester City remain on course for the quadruple going into the FA Cup this weekend.

I still think they will fall short in one of the competitions but as long as they still have a shot, people will be talking about.

They have been playing some tremendous football and I am sure they will have their eye on completing a full house of trophies.

Alan Shearer

Alan Shearer played his entire career at the top level of English football, winning the Premier League title with Blackburn in 1994-95. The following summer he signed for his hometown club, Newcastle United, for a then world record £15 million fee.

He ended his playing career with a record 260 Premier League goals, which still stands today. He also won 63 caps for England, including 34 as captain, and among his 30 international goals were five scored at Euro 96, a total that won him the Golden Boot at that tournament.

Now the chief pundit on Match Of The Day, Alan was one of the first two players inducted into the Premier League Hall Of Fame this year.
