Scudamore says: “Friday Night Light my best ride of the day”
Top jockey is at Ascot this Saturday
Over the last week I rode two very nice horses to victory in Know The Score and Vision Des Flos.
Vision Des Flos had run a couple of slightly disappointing runs but certainly showed his true colours last Sunday. I was very impressed with him.
Then Know The Score won a bumper at Towcester in some style. He’ll have entries for the Cheltenham Champion bumper and races like that but whether he’ll take them up we’ll have to see.
Le Rocher would have won but made an unfortunate mistake. It would have been his best performance yet. He’s still improving.
Moon Racer ran okay and it was great to have him back on track. He got tired from the second last, which you can’t blame him for given the testing conditions.
He’ll be entered for the County Hurdle and the Coral Cup and I wouldn’t write him off yet.
Saturday
He has been disappointing so far. He is a horse that came over with a big reputation but hasn’t yet delivered.
He’s had a break since his last run. He travels well in his races but has found disappointingly little in his races so far. We’ll learn a bit more about him here.
I’m delighted with the weight that he’s got for the Grand National. A lot can happen between now and National Day but we will be meeting Blaklion on much better terms than last year.
He’s my most likely ride in the National providing he gets there in one piece.
He hasn’t shown his true form so far this season but I’m hoping that he will run a big race. I haven’t sat on him at home recently but I know the horse inside out.
Julie who rides him all the time says that he’s in really good form. He’s run well at Ascot before. In fact he was second in this race two years ago.
This time last year he had fantastic form with Blaklion and The Last Samuri, and if he could return to that kind of form he’d have a big chance.
3.00 Ascot – Friday Night Light
Friday Night Light has shown a good level of form and was just touched off last time by a very solid horse of Jeremy Scott’s called Unison.
He should be suited to Ascot and he would be my best ride of the day.
4.10 Ascot – Three Star General
Three Star General has to bounce back to form. He has bits and pieces of form that would give him a good chance.
He finished fourth at Ascot in a race that has worked out very well. If he can run back to his best form then he would have a good chance and I don’t see any reason why he can’t.
Sunday
2.45 Market Rasen – Northern Beau
Northern Beau has shown a good level of form on her first two runs of the season.
She ran very well over two miles at Musselburgh which would have been a trip on the short side for her. Then she bumped in to a good one around Wetherby last time.
The step up in trip should suit and she should go well.
