Rivals meet at Wembley

Tottenham Hotspur host Arsenal on Saturday afternoon in the second North London derby of the season.

The Gunners prevailed 2-0 at the Emirates earlier in the campaign but have stuttered since and now find themselves behind their city rivals.

Spurs, on the other hand, have lost just twice since that defeat and are currently on an 11-game unbeaten run.

Get the lowdown on Saturday’s Wembley clash with a Big Match Breakdown…

Head-to-Head

Despite Arsenal’s overall dominance in this fixture, it is Tottenham who have the better recent record. Mauricio Pochettino’s side have lost just twice in their last seven meetings against the Gunners.

They’ve won two of those matches, including a 2-0 success in the final ever North London derby at White Hart Lane.

The two clubs have also met twice before at the old Wembley. Spurs famously prevailed 3-1 in the 1991 FA Cup Semi-Final. Arsenal took revenge two years later in another FA Cup Semi-Final, this time running out 1-0 winners.

Likely XIs

Spurs could stick with the same side that drew with Liverpool last weekend. Lucas Moura and Tony Alderweireld are both pushing for starts, while Danny Rose will likely remain on the bench.

Arsenal look set to be without goalkeeper Petr Cech after the stopper was forced off against Everton. That should mean a first Premier League start since March 2017 for David Ospina. Arsene Wenger is unlikely to make any further changes. Jack Wilshere could return to the bench for the clash.

Tottenham vs Arsenal - Football tactics and formations

Key Battles

The defensive midfielders are key to this game. Eric Dier and Granit Xhaka, in particular, will need to be on song for either side to have success.

Both sides will look to attack with pace. Arsenal’s four-pronged attack were very impressive last week and will pounce on any defensive lapses from the hosts. Harry Kane is pivotal for Tottenham. The England ace has enjoyed success against the Gunners in the past and will be aided by Heung-Min Son, who will look to stretch the play.

Match Odds

Tottenham are fancied to continue their impressive recent run at even-money. You can back Arsenal to make it two straight victories at 12/5. The Draw is available at 11/4.

Games involving these two tend to produce goals. Both Teams to Score has landed in 14 of the last 19 meetings between the two clubs. With the firepower on show at Wembley, the Coral News Team are expecting that record to continue. It’s 4/9 for Both Teams to Score.

In what should be a tight game, it could be worth doubling up on that market. The match to be Drawn and Both Teams to Score can be had at 13/4.

As for goalscorers, Kane has four goals in his last three home matches against Arsenal. It’s 5/6 that he scores Anytime and 14/5 for him to be the First Goalscorer. Heung-Min Son should get plenty of joy against the Gunners back-line and is value at 19/10 Anytime.

For the visitors, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is best priced at 17/10 to net Anytime. Aaron Ramsey hit a hat-trick against Everton last week and is 10/3 to continue his impressive recent record in front of goal.
