Can Spurs end Old Lady’s terrific run?

Juventus host Tottenham Hotspur in an eagerly-anticipated Champions League clash on Tuesday night – with the hosts looking to extend a stunning run of form.

The Old Lady have won 14 and drawn one of their last 15 games, but their visitors arrive fresh off the back of a North London Derby triumph.

This has all the elements of a top-class tussle, and the Coral News Team have all the info and tips at hand for you…

Head-to-Head

These clubs have only faced off twice, both times in pre-season. Tottenham won the most recent meeting, with a 2-0 victory at Wembley Stadium in August 2017.

More interesting is the pair’s record against sides from their opponent’s respective countries.

Spurs have won four and lost three of their 11 competitive meetings with Italian sides. Most recently, they knocked Inter Milan out of the Europa League in 2012-13, though they did lose at the San Siro.

As for Juve, their record against Premier League sides is very even. 16 wins, 15 losses and 13 draws in 44 games. Their last English experience ended well, taking four points off Chelsea in the 2012-13 UCL Group Stage.

Likely XIs

Spurs have gone with a 4-2-3-1 system in eight of their last nine league games, and Mauricio Pochettino has made few changes to his side in that time.

The Argentine isn’t risking the fit-again Toby Alderweireld for this trip, so Jan Vertonghen and Davinson Sanchez will be the centre back pairing again.

Eric Dier and the in-form Mousa Dembele are likely to be the midfield anchor, behind an advanced trio. Harry Kane will continue to lead the line.

Juve are lining up in a 4-3-3 for most games lately. Ahead of a reliable fixed back four, they’re likely to play Sami Khedira, Claudio Marchisio and Miralem Pjanic in a narrow midfield trio.

Mario Manduzkic has carved out a place on the left of a front trio, with Gonzalo Higuain usually in the centre, and Douglas Costa out wide.

Key Battles:

Juve’s defence have been outstanding of late, conceding a single goal in their last 16 games.

However, they’ll face one of their toughest challenges yet in keeping Harry Kane quiet. The 24-year-old has scored eight times in as many games, netting the only goal in Saturday’s clash with Arsenal.

For Spurs, the holding midfield pair of Dier and Dembele will have their work cut out against a classy and powerful trio of Khedira, Pjanic and Marchisio. The former two starred in the recent 7-0 demolition of Sassuolo.

Match Odds

Despite impressive form at Wembley, Tottenham are winless in three on the road. Considering the hosts’ current imperious streak, Juventus to Win at 6/5 looks the best call in the match betting. A Tottenham victory is 5/2, with the Draw at 21/10.

Gonzalo Higuain is Juve’s star man at present. The Argentine has registered six times in his last four games. He’s 5/4 to Net Anytime and 5/1 to Score 2 or More Goals.

While Spurs do have plenty of attacking talent, the Old Lady’s defensive strength means the Coral News Team like Juve to Win to Nil at 12/5. Meanwhile, Both Teams to Score – No looks safe at 3/4.
