Southampton 2/5 to bring boyhood ace Theo Walcott home

Fellow England international could also move

Theo Walcott has struggled for game-time at Arsenal this term. And it seems the 28-year-old is now set to wave goodbye to the Emirates Stadium, and return to boyhood club Southampton.

The winger has spent over a decade with the Gunners, but is now just 2/5 to rejoin the Saints.

That move could well take place before January ends, with the South Coast club looking to kick-start their season after a run of poor results.

While Saints are hot favourites, West Ham United (6/1) and Everton (9/1) are dark horses for Walcott’s signature. But the odds suggest there’s nothing in talk of a switch to Newcastle United – currently priced at 20/1.

“Walcott has been linked with a move away from the Emirates for a while now but it now seems highly likely that his next destination is going to be Southampton,” said Coral’s Harry Aitkenhead.

Fellow England international Daniel Sturridge could also be leaving his current club – Liverpool – in January.

And it’s Newcastle who are the 10/11 favourites to secure the services of the prolific Reds striker.

Crystal Palace are also interested, with 3/1 for former Three Lions boss Roy Hodgson to bring the forward to Selhurst Park.

West Ham are next up at 7/2, with Southampton 9/2 for the player’s signature.

Meanwhile, there’s 5/1 for the striker to be the first player to move directly between Liverpool and Everton since Abel Xavier in 2002.
