Prem Preview: Stoke, Newcastle and Leicester set for tight victories
Close encounters expected
The Premier League continues tonight with seven fixtures involving teams at the top and bottom of the table.
Tottenham Hotspur host Manchester United in the pick of the games, while Stoke City v Watford could have huge ramifications on the relegation battle.
The Coral News Team have previewed those two games and three more ahead of tonight’s action.
Newcastle United v Burnley
Newcastle will be looking at this match as an ideal chance to get three points. The Magpies are unbeaten in three at home since a narrow defeat to Manchester City in late-December.
Burnley, by contrast, are on their worst run of the season. Sean Dyche’s men are winless in eight, losing their last four. Rafael Benitez’s side will look to take advantage against Clarets outfit missing up to eight key players.
The hosts are 11/10 to claim three points, with Joselu a 19/10 chance to Score Anytime. Newcastle to Win to Nil also makes appeal at 21/10 in a match between two sides who do not score a lot of goals.
Everton v Leicester City
Fixtures between these two tend to produce goals. There have been 11 goals in the last three meetings, while the net has bulged 41 times in 11 head-to-heads since 2001. In only two of those encounters have either side failed to score.
Jamie Vardy has bagged three in his last two matches against Everton. He’s 8/5 to Score Anytime in this one. The Toffees are winless in seven and will be relying on Wayne Rooney to return to goalscoring form. The 32-year-old is yet to score in 2018 but can be backed at 12/5 to break his recent duck.
Leicester also make appeal in the outright market at 6/4.
Stoke City v Watford
Watford have not enjoyed their meetings with Stoke of late. The Hornets have lost in each of their last four matches against the Potters. Javi Gracia’s are winless in six on the road and will not relish a trip to Paul Lambert’s rejuvenated Staffordshire outfit.
The hosts beat Huddersfield Town last time out and are 6/5 to follow that up with victory this evening. Eric Choupo Moting scored in that match and is 9/5 to make it two from two. Stoke are also enticingly priced at 3/1 to make it four successive To Nil wins against their Hertfordshire opponents.
Man City v West Brom
Daniel Sturridge could make his West Bromwich Albion debut tonight against the club who let him go back in 2009. The Liverpool ace has joined the Baggies on loan until the end of the season as he looks to make a late push for England’s World Cup squad. He’s 7/2 to open his account for West Brom against his former employers.
Regardless of Sturridge’s involvement, City should prevail at 2/13. However, it could be a harder game than it looks. The Baggies beat Liverpool at the weekend and appear to have finally hit form under Alan Pardew.
The Citizens have conceded in seven of their last eight home games. It’s 2/1 for City to Win and Both Teams to Score.
Tottenham v Man United
Tottenham have found it difficult against their fellow top-six sides this season. Mauricio Pochettino’s men have lost four in five against other Champions League contenders, including a 1-0 defeat at Old Trafford in October.
The Red Devils have won five from five so far in 2018 and are backed to make that six out of six at 11/5. Jesse Lingard is also in good form and has shown a liking to fixtures under the Wembley arch. It’s 10/3 that he bags Anytime.
If you like this evening’s outright picks, you can back Newcastle, Leicester, Stoke, Man City and Man United all to win in a five-fold accumulator. A £5 stake could return £328.95.
