Both sides dropped points over Christmas

The Premier League season is well into the halfway stage following a hectic festive period, and things don’t look great for Tottenham Hotspur or Arsenal.

There are just 16 games remaining, and that means the race to bag a top-four spot is hotting up.

The current table – and Coral’s latest odds – suggest things look rosy for Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool.

Meaning the north London duo are in trouble.

The Coral traders aren’t even offering odds on Man City finishing in the top four this season, such has been their staggering dominance.

Chelsea are a pretty secure 1/5 shot to be in the leading quartet.

Manchester United will fancy their chances too at 2/9, with Liverpool also now odds-on at 1/3.

That leaves Tottenham at 5/4 with some work to do, while Arsenal face an even tougher task at 5/2.

Spurs dropped crucial points at home to West Ham United on Thursday night, while the Gunners have drawn three of their last four games.

Arsene Wenger’s men have dropped a hatful of points since December. They’ve collected just 11 from the last 24 available.

The duo aren’t totally down and out, but they will need to find a step up in performance.

Spurs are three points behind Liverpool, and six off second-placed United.

Arsenal find themselves a further two points behind their local rivals, meaning they’re five off the sought-after top four.

The Gunners may yet be hindered by their +12 goal difference too, which is by some distance inferior to the five sides above them.
