Buveur D’Air odds-on for Champion Hurdle after Faugheen flop
All-change in the ante-post market
Buveur D’Air has been moved to odds-on favourite for the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham in March.
Nicky Henderson’s charge is now 1/2 from 7/4 for the Grade 1 contest following Faugheen’s shock defeat at Leopardstown this afternoon.
Faugheen himself has been taken out of the betting after sadly pulling up in the Ryanair Hurdle as 1/6 favourite.
Mick Jazz won the race and has been priced up at 25/1 for the Champion Hurdle by Coral.
“This has been a bad Christmas for the Irish Cheltenham Festival challenge, with Faugheen now out of the Champion Hurdle picture, and Sizing John, Djakadam and Yorkhill denting their Festival hopes with poor performances yesterday.”
“By contrast, Nicky Henderson can start the New Year with a spring in his step, as both Might Bite and Buveur D’Air have taken over favouritism for the Gold Cup and Champion Hurdle respectively and seen their main market rivals underperform to boot”, said Simon Clare, Coral Spokesman.
Champion Hurdle
1/2 Buveur D’Air, 8 Melon, 10 Yorkhill, 14 My Tent Or Yours, Apples Jade, 16 Let’s Dance, Defi Du Seuil, 20 Cilaos Emery, Limini, 25 Mick Jazz.
