Big clash in South Wales

The Premier League action continues this evening as Swansea City host Tottenham Hotspur at the Liberty Stadium.

Both of these sides head into the game on the back of important victories. Spurs breezed past Southampton 5-2 on Boxing Day, while City edged out Watford 2-1 at Vicarage Road on Saturday.

The Coral News Team are back to provide you with tonight’s big match breakdown…

Head-to-Head

This has been a fixture dominated by Tottenham. The North Londoners have not lost against their South Wales opponents in the Premier League era. That run includes 10 victories, four of which have come away from home.

Last season three goals in the last two minutes ensured the Lilywhites of a 3-1 victory on the road. Goals from Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen and Son Heung-Min cancelled out Wayne Routledge’s opener. Earlier this season the two sides played out a 0-0 draw at Wembley Stadium.

Likely XIs

Harry Kane is suffering from a heavy cold but should retain his place up-front. Moussa Sissoko could be dropped in place of Mousa Dembele in Mauricio Pochettino’s only other potential change.

Kyle Naughton is banned for the hosts, while Tammy Abraham, Wilfried Bony, Ki Sung-yueng and Kyle Bartley could all miss out through injury. Oli McBurnie, Luciano Narsingh, Nathan Dyer, Leroy Fer and Angel Rangel should be their replacements.

Swansea vs Tottenham - Football tactics and formations

Key Battles

Swansea will need to find a way to deal with Tottenham’s front-four. Kane, Alli, Eriksen and Son have been fantastic this season and should get plenty of joy against a leaky City defence.

The hosts will rely on the pace of Dyer and Narsingh to cause the visitors problems. Their best chance could come on the counter-attack. Serge Aurier and Danny Rose will both push up the pitch, which should leave space in behind.

Match Odds

Tottenham are heavy favourites at 4/11. Swansea are 17/2, while you can back the draw at 19/5.

While Spurs should claim all three points, expect the hosts to put up a fight. Both teams have found the net in all five PL meetings between the two sides at the Liberty. Coral go 21/20 on Both Teams to Score, while it’s 23/10 for Tottenham to Win and Both Teams to Score.

In terms of goalscorers, Eriksen has bagged five goals in his last five games against City and is priced at 23/10 in the Anytime market. He’s 7/1 to Score First, with Kane a likelier chance at 21/10 to break the deadlock. Jordan Ayew could be the home side’s most likely shout at 4/1 Anytime.

It could also pay to take a look at the #YourCall market. The visitors will do most of the attacking, so Alfie Mawson to win 2+ tackles should pay at 6/4.
