Bet of the Day: Barcelona and Celta to share goals in first half

| 11.01.2018

Pair do battle again after first-leg draw

Barcelona and Celta Vigo drew 1-1 in the first leg of their Copa Del Rey tie. And another close-fought encounter is likely as they meet again at the Nou Camp.

The Head-to-Head record between these sides couldn’t be more even. The last eight games have produced three wins apiece, as well as a pair of draws.

One thing you can generally count on is both sides finding the net – often before the interval.

Three of the last five clashes have seen each team register before half-time, including each of the last two.

Celta’s last game – against Real Madrid – also saw both teams register ahead of the break. Coral’s Bet of the Day is Both Teams to Score in First Half at 14/5.

Visitors to make it tough for Barca

Considering how competitive Celticos have been in this fixture, there could be plenty of value in backing Juan Carlos Unzue’s men to make this tough for Barcelona.

Celta may be sitting 15th in La Liga, but they always seem to reserve their best displays for games against the league’s heavyweights.

However, even when they do lose, they never give up without a fight. In fact, Celta haven’t lost a single game by more than one goal in all competitions this season.

While the hosts will probably progress on Thursday night, the Celta Vigo +2.0 handicap looks a good call at 29/20.

Pair could still be neck-and-neck at the break

Three of the last five clashes between these sides have been level at the interval, including both of this season’s meetings.

As regards Ernesto Valverde’s hosts, four of their last six La Liga matches have been all-square at the break.

Add in the fact that Celta haven’t trailed at the interval in any of their last 12 Copa Del Rey games, and First-Half Result: Draw at 19/10 could be a smart selection.
